The Boys in the Boat by Daniel James Brown

What a book! I. Could. Not. Put. It. Down.

This book revolves around a main character who was on the 1936 Olympic rowing team who performed in front of Adolf Hitler during the Olympic Games. However, this book is so much more than that synopsis. While reading, I found myself missing the work ethic and simplicity of past generations way of living. It made me think I was born in the wrong time period. I was filled with adoration, inspiration, and appreciation for a different viewpoint of collegiate athletics and the 1930s time period. Throwing my full recommendation behind this one.

When Breath Becomes Air by Paul Kalanithi

My heart genuinely broke reading this book. That said, it hands down is making my list of favorite books of all time.

This book is now permanently wrinkled due to the amount of tears I shed while reading! This memoir is of an amazing surgeon who is diagnosed with late stage lung cancer. After his shocking prognosis, he continues to operate and save lives while his own life diminishes before his eyes. No sugar coating here but this book is powerful. Like utterly and incredibly powerful. I would recommend this to anyone, regardless of their reading inclinations.

The Majesties by Tiffany Tsao

Oh those juicy, juicy secrets! I am always on the hunt for "Gone Girl" -- esk reads and this little number came close.

As promised, this book is riddled with betrayal, family, wealth, and loads of suspicion. The book begins with an extravagant, large dinner gathering of 300 family members and Gwendolyn regaining consciousness in the hospital after her sister, Estella, poisons them all. Now, this book is intriguing because we know the killer...but we don't know WHY! This character study of a book is thrilling and every bit as juicy as promised. Haunting and delicious. Try it.

The Glass Hotel by Emily St. John Mandel

Admittedly, not my favorite. BUT WAIT! You might like it.

This book is melancholy to the most extreme, and it ended with a dark cloud over me. It mostly centers around Vincent navigating through her tortured life. A story of greed, survival, fame, and finding yourself amongst life's many challenges. I believe I disliked it so much because I needed a lighter read at the time, and this did not fit the bill. In the beginning I liked the mystery of the plot and trying to piece together the characters ties to one another, but it didn't really come to a resolve for me. Although, I have spoken to others who really enjoyed this one.

The Dinner List by Rebecca Serle

Okay, okay. I know I'm late to this bad boy but oh my gosh I devoured it! Delightful!

If you could invite five people, living or dead, to a dinner in New York City, who would you invite? Such an interesting concept for a book! The characters are just as juicy and sincere as the storyline in this book and you should be prepared to shed a tear or two as well! I mean who doesn't love Audrey Hepburn, am I right?! I was pulled in at the very first page and enthralled all the way up the last page. A sharp, fast read that you will surely enjoy. I would definitely recommend this!

I would never let you down on my tea splurging this month! As our days get shorter, and the weather chillier, I am relying on my cuppa more than ever before.

I have drank Sweet & Spicy by Good Earth in gallons this month. Literally. Can't get it into my system fast enough. It is the perfect blend of sweet and spicy (hence the name) and sits just right.

Do yourself a favor and get out to the store for Pukka's Elderberry & Echinacea! Improves my mood ten fold - always. The sweet aromas and benefits of echinacea are magical on a fall day.
