Fall is finally here and with it comes many toasty, twisty, and tantalizing new reads! I loved this month of reading and have been really like my more adventurous and different genre books than I usually dip into. Hope you had an equally as amazing September reading month!

Sweet Little Lies by Caz Frear

Starting the month out strong with a new murder mystery! Cat Kinsella is a detective after a troubled childhood and has never really been able to separate herself from that past and her toxic family. When a woman from that past turns up murdered, she is forced to reconcile her past and the truth about her devious family. Personally, I did not like how much this book tried to have snappy dialogue and witty banter. It just wasn't a book for me but finished it nonetheless!

Olympus Texas by Stacey Swann

Can we please appreciate this magnificent book cover?! The Briscoe's family drama is well known and quietly uttered within the small town of Olympus, Texas. When their son March returns after two years from being caught sleeping with his brother's wife, our story unravels over a one week timeline. The book weaves mythology into a current, modern family drama. The book mainly focuses on multiple aspects of love - what does it mean, how do we get it, etc. This book has everything though - cheating spouses, murder, business dealings, scorned lovers/family members, mother-son hatred, and so so much more! Recommend picking up this book!

Young Jane Young by Gabrielle Zevin

I absolutely adored this pointed, hysterical, quick witted story! Aviva Grossman always wanted to go into politics and does so during her college years but interning for the congressman's campaign turns out to be more than she bargained for. Rachel Grossman wants to be involved in her daughter's life no matter what. Embeth, the congressman's wife, knows more than she lets on. Told from multiple points of view, this story is a modern day Clinton-Lewinsky but has seriously laugh out loud moments! I thought this book would be serious because of the politic viewpoint but it is down right hilarious and upbeat! Loved this one!

This Is Where I Leave You by Johnathan Tropper

I'm always in for a dramatic, tumultuous family book...probably because mine is so stable and sane! I've always loved a multi-character story with intertwining intermediary characters. Judd finds out his father has died and his wife has been cheating on him with his boss. BOOM - what an opener! That's where our story begins, and Judd's father wanted all of his children and his wife to sit shiva for seven days. Our story takes off from here! I laughed out loud countless times and tore through this book. Such a crazy, lovable, outright hilarious family and I loved every second of reading it.
