October is a great fall month, and I read a fantastic book in this month! Please read on to see.

The Giver of Stars by Jojo Moyes

“Maybe that’s the thing we need to understand, that some things are a gift, even if you don’t get to keep them.”

The Giver of Stars is a breathtaking story of five extraordinary women and their remarkable journey through the mountains of Kentucky and beyond in Depression-era America. Based on a true story rooted in America’s past, The Giver of Stars is unparalleled in its scope and epic in its storytelling.

Synopsis:

The Giver of Stars focuses on beautifully developed characters. Primarily, Alice Wright a transplant from England and new bride to a dormant husband with an overbearing father-in-law, Margery O’Hare, the smart-talking, self-sufficient group leader, and three other singular women. All of whom answer Elanor Roosevelt’s call for a team of women to deliver books as part of a traveling library. The women become known as the Packhorse Librarians of Kentucky.

What happens to these women–and to the men they love–becomes an unforgettable drama of loyalty, justice, friendship, and humanity.
